3 of November the electric bus models Е433 Vitovt Max Electro appeared in the streets of the Primorsky district of Saint Petersburg. The government of Northern capital of Russia have started the exploitation of environmentally friendly transport in recent years. Administration and transport services understand how important it is to follow the global trend to replace diesel transport, polluting the environment, with “green” electric vehicles, which do not harm the atmosphere.
There is a growing interest in innovative transport vehicles that are not locked to overhead contact lines in the Russian Federation, as it convenient: no need to build and maintain appropriate infrastructure. Saint Petersburg is not an exception. The city authorities intend to announce a tender for the supply of buses in the nearest future. For this purpose, they are currently studying offers from different manufacturers.
One of the first electric buses arrived on the trial operation to the Saint Petersburg is the electric bus produced by OJSC “Holding Management company “Belkommunmash”. His trial operation will last for six months. During this time, Saint Petersburg citizens will be able to use the Belarusian “Vitovt” on the route №9 and to experience its advantages. The large passenger capacity of the machine (153 passenger) will allow to cope with the passenger traffic in the metropolis, and the place for a seat of people with disabilities, will make it possible to travel for passengers in different categories. The bus goes almost silent, which makes the stay on board more comfortable. During the trip, it’s even possible to charge a mobile phone: the interior is equipped with power sockets and USB connectors.
It should be noticed that Saint Petersburg is already starting to transition to the autonomous transport. By the end of this year “Belkommunmash” will supply 25 units of the battery trolleybus model 32100D. This is a trolleybus with increased autonomous run up to 15 kilometers, which can run both as using current collectors, as without them. This feature will allow to connect new regions of the city where there is no contact line, with the old regions, but without harming the ecology.
